Don’t get me wrong, I really like these vids. But it seems like quite
negative outlook. To what extent is this credible eh
Don’t take this the wrong way, but I have a really hard time taking advice
from someone who has an anime character for their profile picture.
Why should we listen to a dumbass who fails to pronounce basic words or
string a coherent sentence together? Seriously this is a terrible video
Once again MOST DEGREES these days are a waste of time….we need to go
back to ON THE JOB TRAINING like it used to be. People shouldn’t have to go
into debt and waste time for these worthless pieces of paper saying
congrats you have memorized books and ideologies. And like you stated, you
have to either have the networks, ivy leagues, etc you won’t be getting a
job for jack shit. I went to the University of Michigan-Flint (University
of Michigan extension campus) the University of Michigan has one of the
biggest, if not the biggest alumni network yet people still do not have
jobs so ….yeah as I stated on other comments and my videos college for
the most part is a scam in my opinion.
This guy makes some interesting points but it’s not all true. Sure you may
need some ivy league degrees and connections to work on Wall Street but
I’ve met plenty of folks who majored in these degrees who are employed.
i live in connecticut with every major finance player in the tri state
area. they are literally my neighbors and they live damn good lives. i see
a ferrari every hour. They went to school for finance and they all made it
big. Most of this blibber blabber is subjective and very opinionated. If
you want a job in finance come up here. My soon to be father in law drives
goldman sachs executives.
I am a low income student, therefore I will receive a generous amount of
financial aid. I want to start my own business, what major will be the most
useful accounting? Business admin? Any advice would be great
What are your views on the income perspectives in the financial industry?
If I chose the path of dealing with stupid people or my ideas not being
aknowledged… maybe it would still be a starting point.. So that later on
I could start my own business with the practical skills I would have
learned in commercial banks or insurance companys, or go to politics. But
my plan, since I live in Slovenia (low income) is to work in Austria or
Germany, for better financial stability. Do you really think it is a dead
end career? If so, what’s the salary in your views for this dead end
profession? Thanx!
Economics is far far from a useless degree. It tends to be one of the best
paid social sciences.
Finance is far far from useless also, but don’t always expect to work in
finance–a lot of finance majors I know ended up in accounting.
This guy is definitely full of BS
Actually, to correct you around 4-5min, you can go to NobodyGivesAFuck
University and still get into Goldman Sachs, but your name won’t be
Thaddius Wentworth IV, it’ll be Rachael Goldsteinberg.
The second possibility is if you’re a blue-eyed blonde girl with a name
like Jennifer Waters, but in that case you’ll be an intern first, and the
test to becoming a full member of the club is an hour appointment at Lloyd
Blankfein’s $30M penthouse overlooking Central Park, where you’ll be porked
up against floor-to-ceiling windows while he talks on speakerphone to his
math nerd who is ecstatically reporting the news about how his latest HFT
algorithm is “killing it”.
Bunch of worthless parasites. You want to talk about zero value, nay,
NEGATIVE VALUE, they are it.
some degrees need graduate study. you can do well in economics w/ a phd in
economics.
LMAO you’re trying to get money out of people as well sir, you are no
different then the leftist and colleges your talking about….shit lets be
real LEFT WING/RIGHT WING still on the same dirty ass bird. America’s
political arena is corrupt and has been corrupt wake up already as you keep
telling us lmao
With Finance there are a lot of jobs, You do not have to go to a IVY league
school but I will say going to a ranked school does have its advantages.
The places you stated that you worked at are not even in Financial area’s.
In the mid west the only Financial relevant place is Chicago. (I am sorry
Im from the East Coast). And Bank of America is does Investment Banking ,
Commercial (retail) and wealth management. Commercial Retail and Wealth
management definitely at the bottom of the barrel in comparison to IB
Investment banking. I agree with a lot said , if you have no internship
experience or great breadth of technological knowledge leaving school you
are in for a tough time. Learn SQL and Excel and your good. If not go into
engineering. If you can not do math going into college learn or you will
not be able to get a liberal art gig. Its that tough. Read Adam Smith
Wealth of Nations Intelligent investor. If you do not get into a ranked
school just do community and get a gpa and then go somewhere that is. This
is a lot but I think its helpful. Oh by the way I majored in Comm but I
decided to educate my self once sophomore year came around and I started to
panic. Cool video over all I think its good to inform people
How you expect to get an high end job before someone going to harvard which
is the number one university in the world plus tuition is like 45k for
undergraduate. I dont see why you say dont major in them. You claim their
are jobs available.
hey clarey, do a piece on how people are statistically blind with their
financial choices.
@ Aaron- what is your opinion on becoming an actuary? I understand it’s
very difficult to get into but the only information I can find is from the
SOA which is biased info…
The housing bubble was a conspiracy of silence . They knew but just cashed
the checks .
Plumbers and electricians are alway in demand!
You’re talking like econ and finance majors only work in banks when that’s
not entirely true….
how was the pay?
That’s why I double major in Accounting/Economics so I can have my dream
degree and a practical degree.
What about working for the government…. Foreign service officers,
diplomats,etc
Thanks for the video. I love people who have practical information about
the real world aspects of education and employment. I am tired of the
academic advice that you get in college that turns out to be worthless.
I have connections to a lot of business owners like insurance etc. It’s
all about connections and he’s right you NEED to know how rich people act
and operate. Thing is i know ALOT of rich people who are actually great to
hang out with. But some of them you just wanna punch them in the face.
