The Brain Aneurysm Foundation (BAF) is proud to announce the addition of Massachusetts General Hospital’s Dr. Aman Patel to its renowned Medical Advisory Board.

Dr. Patel is an expert in the vasculature of the brain and spine. He specializes in the minimally invasive treatment of brain and spinal disorders using endovascular techniques that are creating new treatment options for a broad range of conditions, replacing long and difficult traditional surgeries with low-risk interventions. Dr. Patel’s clinical interests lay in cerebrovascular and endovascular neurosurgery with a focus on the treatment of cerebral aneurysms, vascular malformations and stroke.

“The foundation is very excited to have the support of Dr. Patel as he brings his many years of expertise to MGH,” noted BAF Executive Director Christine Buckley. “We look forward to Dr. Patel working with us in our initiatives of patient education and support.”

At Massachusetts General Hospital, Dr. Patel is working to develop a world-class program that advances the clinical, academic, research and education work that began at during his tenure at Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York.

Dr. Patel is involved in multiple multi-center studies, NIH and industry sponsored, that investigate treatments related to ischemic stroke, hemorrhagic stroke, new devices and new techniques. Some of his active studies include: the Penumbra Liberty trial investigating a new stent device for the treatment of cerebral aneurysms and an NIH trial site studying surgical treatment of cerebral hemorrhage.

The Brain Aneurysm Foundation’s Medical Advisory Board is composed of neurologists, neurosurgeons, and interventional neuroradiologists from around the United States and Canada working at some of the most prestigious medical facilities. These doctors provide continued expertise and support to the Foundation in a variety of ways.

Now celebrating 20 years of service, the Brain Aneurysm Foundation was established in 1994 in Boston, Massachusetts with a mission to promote early detection of brain aneurysms by providing knowledge and raising awareness of the signs, symptoms and risk factors; work with the medical communities to provide support networks for patients and families; as well as to further research that will improve patient outcomes and save lives.
