In my personal opinion; medicine is too much of a risk to be taking because
of the adverse side affects that are caused from taking the medicine. As
from what I’ve seen, herbal remedies are better in the fact that there are
little to no adverse side affects… All you’ll be doing is eating a plant.
I consider taking medicine is like taking Meth. It will get you what you
want, but it will destroy your body in the process.
The Survival Medcine Handbook explores medical preparedness if we end up
without modern medical facilities for any reason. An interesting note is
that 95% of all operations performed during the civil war utilized
Chloroform or Ether.
AZT.. what a horrible drug. One of the reasons I want to study infectious
diseases is to get a cure for HIV.

Getting Better: 200 Years of Medicine
An interesting documentary we are featuring on our channel this week:
I am reading his book right now! Absolutely amazing !
Really good documentary. Please make more!
This 45-minute documentary explores three remarkable stories of medical
progress that have taken place over the course of the long history of NEJM.
In 1812, we had no understanding of infectious disease, surgery was
unsanitary and performed without anesthesia, and cancer was unrecognized.
Two centuries later, this film tells the story of research, clinical
practice, and patient care, and of how we have continued to get better over
the last 200 years.

“ROUGH TO REFINED”….. How Miraculous Medicine is in the world we live
in?!?!?!! AMAZING advances have changed everything!!!
All that checking and the resident still has huge dangling earrings in
theatre. It has been a while since I’ve worked in theatre but I am sure
this in not best practice.
I have stopped all kinds of medicine for 6 years now, and I’m fine (I’m
21). On the rare occasions where I am forced to go to the doctor by
relatives, I actually throw away the pharmaceuticals that I get prescribed.
Medicine is completely useless. Also, I don’t believe in herbal bullshit. I
believe in nothing, when I’m sick, I just wait to heal.
It is Watch It Wednesday. Today’s offering is a 44-minute documentary that
was made as part of the The New England Journal of #Medicine’s 200th
anniversary in 2012. It’s called Getting Better: 200 Years of Medicine.
Amazing, love it, one of the best medical documentaries i’ve seen so far.
Keep up the good work.
Atul Gawande! His books are absolutely marvelous!
And the surgeon had his hands crossed and touching his body (10:00) which
isn’t ok as well 🙂
Its so exciting to think about what is to come in the medical industry when
you see how far we’ve come.
Good doc but was hoping for more details. If anyone knows of a more
in-depth documentary about the medicine, please share it with me. Thanks.
Best medical documentary ever !
i remembered Atul Gawande’s TED speech
Smoke n Guns Aids report.
Congratulation for your team work.
i agree, that is not aseptic technique. Horrible
Of course but understanding human factors is a key to successful surgery or
successful intervention to any failure points. Search here on Youtube,
“Just A Routine Operation.” There should be ‘checklists’ or protocols
listed for those emergency events as well.
