Headlining ASCP 2014 Tampa will be a panel featuring several well-known healthcare experts who will help attendees stay abreast of the changes occurring in the regulatory, compliance and billing arenas. The event will be held Friday, Oct. 10, 11:30 a.m. – 12:50 p.m., at the Tampa Convention Center.

The panel will include prominent healthcare attorney Jane Pine Wood, Esq., and Michael Talbert, MD, FASCP, chairman of the Department of Pathology and director of the Pathology Residency Program at the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine and chief of Pathology Services at Oklahoma University Medical Center. The session will be moderated by Alfred Campbell, MD, FASCP, president of the American Pathology Foundation (APF), and is titled, “Evolving Pressures on Laboratories in 2014 and Beyond.”

“With the profound changes occurring in healthcare today, it is critical that pathologists and laboratory practice managers sharpen their laboratory management skills to run efficient practices that enable them to improve the delivery of patient care,” noted Dr. Campbell.

Ms. Pine Wood is a nationally recognized expert on compliance and regulatory issues facing pathology practices of all types. Dr. Talbert is known for presenting ways that today’s pathologist can prepare for and adapt to the changes that come.

“It is crucial that pathologists and medical laboratory professionals lead the charge to manage, promote, and deliver appropriate quality care,” continued Dr. Campbell. “It’s hard to stay abreast of all the changes occurring in the regulatory, compliance and billing arenas. Our panel is designed to help attendees understand the latest developments in these areas and understand the need to be creative and experiment with new practice models that will help them adapt to whatever changes come in our industry.”
