Nick Bonvino has been named to lead Texas’ largest health information exchange (HIE.) With an extensive background in Health IT and as a passionate advocate of HIE, Mr. Bonvino brings a diverse blend of leadership experiences to advance Healthconnect’s community-wide mission during a period of intensive implementations and service expansion. Mr. Bonvino has dedicated the past 10 years of his lengthy career to the start-up and operation of numerous HIEs in Texas, New York, Illinois and Florida. Working with regional and statewide HIE initiatives, he also served as the CIO of Triad Hospitals and held leadership positions with IBM, and Siemens.

On behalf of the Healthconnect Board of Directors, Chairman Dr. Bernard Harris expressed optimism for the organization’s trajectory under Mr. Bonvino’s direction, “Healthconnect has realized incredible growth in just three short years due to the commitment of our board of business and healthcare leaders and to the excellent management that has been in place since the organization’s inception. We expect an exciting new era under Nick’s leadership as Houston becomes a beacon for health information exchange across the country.”

Under the interim guidance of Healthconnect’s Chief Technology Officer Phil Beckett, PhD, the organization continued to grow and expand its provider base. During this period, Healthconnect added 11 new providers to the exchange, including a medical school, the county jail, and a mid-sized rural hospital. Total clients now stand at 280 contracts. Dr. Beckett will continue to lead the organization’s technological development and client implementations.

Mr. Bonvino’s appointment as CEO was made by the Healthconnect Board of Directors, culminating from a national search by Witt/Kieffer, an executive search firm.
