Learn the Mathematics of Weight Loss
The secret to success to weight loss is in the mathematics of weight loss. By that I mean you must understand that the amount you will lose each day, week, month, or year is totally based on the amount of calories you take in compared to how many calories you expend.
If you spend more time on finding out how many calories you burn each day and less time thinking about the next diet coming down the pike you will be successful in the long and the short run. For instance, if a big guy was to measure his level of energy he needs to maintain his weight at say 300 pounds, he would find out that he would need, for example, 3000 calories per day.
If he ate 3000 calories per day, for his given level of activity and his body type, he would stay at 300 pounds. If he is gaining weight then he is eating more than 3000 calories per day or not getting his normal level of activity. If this same person wanted to weigh 200 pounds he would have to eat the same number of calories of a 200 pound person with a given level of activity and a given body type. Let’s say that would be 2000 calories as an example.
You see it’s all in the math. There is no secret to losing weight. If you control the calories you do not have to watch what you eat in terms of the types of foods you want. If you want a slice of pizza for example then you just have to account for the number of calories in the pizza. The other option would be to skip something else or exercise for about 1 hour extra to make up for the calories. I do not recommend the latter since it is very difficult to add an hour to the exercise you are already doing.
