Linking Families and Communities supports families with young children with programs and services that promote healthy social, emotional, cognitive and physical development and well-being. By providing resources and support to families, parents learn how to best meet the needs of their children.

This Saturday will be a celebration of the family with KIDZMANIA which offers free activities and fun for everyone. This type of entertainment strengthens the family bond by providing an opportunity for the entire family to take part in fun and entertaining activities along with educational programs. When families play together they grow stronger and more connected.

KIDZMANIA will offer fun from balloon artists, ISU Insect Zoo, NASCAR Tire Change and making a smoothie by pedaling a bike to educational fun with the Iowa Science Center. CY the Cyclone and the Iowa State University Cheerleaders will be entertaining fans throughout the Crossroads Mall as will the Iowa Central Dance Team and other stage performers.

“KIDZMANIA is an event for kids and families to have a wholesome good time and learn about community resources,” states Elizabeth Stanek, Executive Director of Linking Families and Communities. “They can hold a tarantula or touch a walking stick,” she said. Last year she saw “eyes that were big,” as children and adults reacted to the ISU Insect Zoo.

While others may enjoy the face painting or watching the modern welding robotic arm at work by Iowa Central Community College students and staff, there will be something for everyone with over 50 different activities and vendors. “What a great way to bond with your kids and experience things you don’t experience here on a daily basis,” Stanek said. “It is important for kids and families to do things together.”

Linking Families and Communities is a nonprofit organization that works in Calhoun, Pocahontas and Webster counties. KIDZMANIA is sponsored by a variety of community businesses and organizations.
