New Albany Dental Practice Offers Oral Health Tips For Thanksgiving
New Albany, IN (PRWEB) November 27, 2014
Dr. Ronald Receveur, who has a leading Southern Indiana dental implant clinic, has a few oral health tips before patients dig into the annual Thanksgiving feast.
Dr. Receveur, who offers Louisville and New Albany affordable cosmetic dentistry, and his staff understand that Thanksgiving means mountains of foods high in starch and sugar. While the staff wishes everyone a happy and safe holiday, the dental practice has some helpful tips for how patients can enjoy a feast that is also healthy on their teeth:
Beware of sticky and sugary foods. Sticky and sugary foods take much longer to break down inside the mouth. This exposes the mouth to harmful bacteria that put the teeth at a higher risk of tooth decay.
Avoid snacking. Thanksgiving is a snacking holiday, but try to keep grazing to a minimum. Snacking exposes teeth to harmful acids for long periods of time, which opens the door to tooth decay.
Try different food groups. During Thanksgiving, it’s tempting to load plates with foods high in carbohydrates. Much like sugar, foods high in starch and carbohydrates can create harmful bacteria that leads to cavities. Vegetables and foods high in protein can help combat the acids that create harmful bacteria in the mouth.
Drink water or rinse with water after the meal. Sugary drinks damage the teeth and create cavities. Rinsing with water can remove food debris from the mouth, and it also helps the oral cavity maintain healthy saliva levels, which also fight tooth decay.
Brush after eating. In addition to your regular brushing and flossing routine, brush after meals to remove food debris and harmful acids inside the mouth.
“Thanksgiving doesn’t have to be destructive on your teeth,” said Dr. Receveur, who provides low cost dental implants. “By following these tips, you can still enjoy a holiday feast without forfeiting your oral health.”

Dr. Receveur has attended more than 5,000 hours of postgraduate training and even gone to Portugal to study with the best dentists in the world. Dr. Receveur’s associate, Dr. Frederick, graduated from the University of Louisville School of Dentistry. He has received additional training in cosmetic dentistry, endodontics (root canals), orthodontics and dental implants at the Midwest Implant Institute, and has completed dental sedation training.
Dr. Frederick was a dental lab technician before receiving his DMD. That gives him unique knowledge in cosmetic dentistry elements like crowns, bridges, veneers and smile design.
Dr. Frederick is a graduate of the University of Kentucky, where he was a member of the men’s soccer team and received his Bachelor of Science in Biology. He graduated high school from St. Xavier in Louisville.
