New poll finds U.K. ‘woefully unprepared’ for the zombie apocalypse
Perhaps, given things like climate change and the threat of nuclear war,, it’s not surprising to find that most citizens of the United Kingdom aren’t worried about the zombie apocalypse. That’s what a poll by YouGov, an internet-based market research firm, indicates. According to their findings, only 11 percent of Brits have a plan for when the undead rise.
Most Brits are woefully unprepared for the zombie apocalypse: only 11% have a zombie plan (23% among 18-24 yr olds) https://t.co/7OVYGSGqWV pic.twitter.com/h6PrZrUkUd
— YouGov (@YouGov) September 8, 2017Given that it’s a highly unlikely scenario (despite the plethora of movies and TV shows that would have you believe otherwise) that 11 percent even seems a bit high. The fact that the number jumps to 23 percent when you only consider the 18-24 year old demographic is also interesting. Either these kids are overly worried about the undead or they’re just hoping to avoid planning what to do when they graduate from college.
And it seems only six percent think the government should bother having a zombie plan, well behind the 27 percent who are worried about robots.
Previous YouGov zombie-related research showed that 6% of Brits want the govt to be contingency planning for zombies https://t.co/kSelmCciXz pic.twitter.com/IU6qx5PVR1

By the way, the people who fear the Robot/AI uprising might be onto something, at least according to Elon Musk, who thinks AI will be the most likely cause of World War Three.
Perhaps the most surprising statistic is not who is planning for the zombie apocalypse, but what they’re planning. It seems only 13 percent of respondents said they’d be killing zombies, you know, the coolest part of the zombie apocalypse.
Most people seemed to think gathering supplies and finding a decent place to hide are the ways to go.
Of those who do have zombie plans, 45% involve holing up somewhere, 43% consider supplies, just 13% killing zombies https://t.co/7OVYGSGqWV pic.twitter.com/ndB78l3sb6

It’s especially surprising given that 23 percent say acquiring weapons are part of their plan. Maybe the fact that YouGov made the option “Kill zombies/survivors” made people a bit squeamish about checking that particular box.
I love how you put "kill zombies" and "kill survivors" into the same category.

It’s also odd that nine percent of people refused to divulge their plan at all. Perhaps they’re worried about zombie sympathizers in the government catching wind?
Loving the 9% who refused to divulge their plans…presumably in case you were gathering intel for Zombies…btw who paid for the research…

Of course, some people had suggestions the pollsters missed.
The only real plan is to do the science and find a cure. I think Healing Crystals are looking likely: https://t.co/aKyjc56q9T

That guy had a good point until “Healing Crystals” came into play.
One particularly apathetic person even said they’d just give up and become a zombie.
I would genuinely assimilate. I'm always hungry, irritable and slow moving anyway. pic.twitter.com/BHj06VPB5X

One thing is for sure, you aren’t going to fight off whole hordes of the undead using brute force. If you’re going to survive the zombie apocalypse you’ll have to use your braaaaains.
