(Red Earth Descendants) 20th World Peace and Prayer Day to be held at Howard Prairie Lake Resort in Southern Oregon, June 18-21, 2015
Ashland, Oregon (PRWEB) March 26, 2015
The 20th-annual World Peace and Prayer Day (WPPD) will be held at Howard Prairie Lake in Southern Oregon, June 18-21, 2015. This international gathering of indigenous and traditional leaders from diverse tribes and affiliations is free to the public, offering four days of ceremony, workshops, and performances. Intended to bring awareness to sacred sites, WPPD is a global call for a return to sustainable and sacred practices.
WPPD was founded in 1995 by Lakota Chief Arvol Looking Horse, 19th generational keeper of the Sacred White Buffalo Calf Pipe Bundle. Recognized as the spiritual leader of the Lakota, Dakota and North Nakota Sioux Nations, Chief Looking Horse has established relationships with world leaders, including Desmond Tutu, President Barack Obama and His Holiness the Dalai Lama.
“We must comprehend in each of our hearts and minds the two ways we human beings are free to follow, as we choose: the good way, the spiritual way – or the un-natural way, the material way. It’s our personal choice, our personal decision – each of ours and all of ours.” – Chief Arvol Looking Horse
Ceremonial leaders will be attending from around the world including founder of WPPD Chief Arvol Looking Horse and Grandmother Agnes Baker Pilgrim. World-renowned speakers will address global issues of peace, justice and environmental concerns. An Elder/Youth conference which enriches young people with the wisdom of the world’s sacred traditions will be held in conjunction with WPPD proceedings.
