Study Reveals More Troubling News For Denture Wearers, New Albany Dental Implant Clinic Owner Says
NEW ALBANY, IN (PRWEB) December 09, 2014
Dr. Ronald Receveur, a leading New Albany dentist, wants his patients to know about a new study that has found that seniors who wear dentures overnight are at a higher risk of getting pneumonia.
The study, published online Oct. 7 in the Journal of Dental Research, followed elderly men and women for a total of three years and found that those who wore their dentures while they slept were twice as likely to get pneumonia compared to those who removed their prosthetic teeth at night. The average age of participants in the study was 88.
Those who wore dentures at night also showed higher levels of denture and tongue plaque as well as gum infections, the study found.
Dr. Receveur has spent the past several years providing revolutionary All on 4 dental implants to residents of Southern Indiana and Louisville who struggle with ill-fitting or uncomfortable dentures. The implants, which are titanium, restore chewing ability and can save a patient’s jawbone.
Dr. Receveur, owner of New Albany Implants, is so involved in placing dental implants because he has seen how implants improve patients’ overall quality of life. Patients with removable dentures do not receive the proper nutrition they need, and as a result, have a reduced life expectancy.
“The statistics are staggering,” Dr. Receveur said. “Removable dentures are not only uncomfortable and often unnatural-looking, but they simply do not function like natural teeth. At our dental implant clinic, we can place dental implants and natural-looking crowns that allow you to enjoy the food you need and love to eat.”
Dr. Receveur, who practices in New Albany, Ind., across the Ohio River from Louisville, Ky., offers Louisville cosmetic dentistry services and general dentistry such as teeth cleanings, X-rays, fillings, extractions, root canals, crowns, teeth whitening and veneers.
Dr. Receveur also has vast experience with All on 4 dental implants, All on Six dental implants, One Day Smile Solution, dental implants in one hour, bone grafting and sinus lifts, all with IV sedation dentistry. He has been restoring implants with prosthetics and complex dentistry for 25 years and surgically placing implants since 2008.
Dr. Receveur offers a five-year warranty on all cosmetic and prosthetic work.
Dr. Receveur, a New Albany native, has been the family dentist of choice for Southern Indiana and Louisville since 1981.
Dr. Receveur was born with a partial cleft palate that left him with a missing front tooth. As a child he “wore an awful removable partial.” As a teenager, Dr. Receveur received a permanent bridge, but his dentist destroyed one of his healthy, natural teeth in the process. These dental experiences helped drive him to find better dental solutions for his patients.
Dr. Receveur graduated from Indiana University Southeast with honors in chemistry, after which he earned his doctorate in Dental Surgery from the Indiana University School of Dentistry.
Dr. Receveur has attended more than 5,000 hours of postgraduate training and even gone to Portugal to study with the best dentists in the world. He has been awarded numerous advanced certifications in Implant, Sedation, Comprehensive, Restorative and Aesthetic dentistry so he may provide the most current dental techniques to his Louisville and New Albany dental patients.
Dr. Receveur’s associate, Dr. Frederick, graduated from the University of Louisville School of Dentistry. He has received additional training in cosmetic dentistry, endodontics (root canals), orthodontics and dental implants at the Midwest Implant Institute, and has completed dental sedation training.
Dr. Frederick was a dental lab technician before receiving his DMD. That gives him unique knowledge in cosmetic dentistry elements like crowns, bridges, veneers and smile design.
Dr. Frederick is a graduate of the University of Kentucky, where he was a member of the men’s soccer team and received his Bachelor of Science in Biology. He graduated high school from St. Xavier in Louisville.
