Swire Hotels Supports Earth Hour 2015 and Sustainability

Swire Hotels will participate in Earth Hour 2015 on Saturday, March 28, 2015 at 8:30 p.m., including The Opposite House and EAST, Beijing; The Upper House and EAST, Hong Kong, as well as their stand-alone restaurant, The Continental.
Earth Hour is a global event created by the people for the planet, and the commitment goes beyond one hour; it symbolizes what can happen when the world acts together to celebrate the planet’s future. Each of the hotels will turn off selective lights that include decorative, façade and back office lighting. Guests will be informed of the initiative via iPad®, iPod touch®, IPTV, TVs and lobby LED screen and by the Guest Experience Teams.
Swire Hotels is committed to developing sustainable and environmentally friendly hotels in economically and socially responsible ways. All their establishments have participated in Earth Hour upon opening, and guests appreciate the mood lighting, events and sense of social responsibility. Beyond Earth Hour, Swire is conscious of making a positive difference to the environment by remaining as paperless as possible. Swire Hotels has taken various measures in the daily hotel operations including Paperless check-in/out; iPad®, iPod touch® or IPTV in every room replacing printed hotel directories. There is also the use of eco-friendly BMW I3 electric car at The Upper House, daily e-newspaper upload on iPod touch® at EAST, Hong Kong and iPad® at The Opposite House.
