Arlington, VA (PRWEB) November 13, 2014
TandemNSI, a public/private-funded partnership between Amplifier Ventures and Arlington Economic Development and funded by the Commonwealth of Virginia, is hosting its inaugural rapid-pitch event, PitchNSI, on December 2, 2014 from 6 p.m.-8 p.m. Selected companies will have the opportunity to present their technology product to a panel of representatives of national security agencies that specifically work with entrepreneurs in advancing technologies for national security purposes. Companies developing technology products in robotics, additive manufacturing, Internet of things, data analytics, cybersecurity, material science and other advanced technologies are of specific interest. In addition to the opportunity to present their technology to agency representatives and invited investors, cash prizes will be awarded the top three presenting companies. The event will be held at Arlington Economic Development located at 1100 N. Glebe Road, Suite 1500, Arlington, VA 22201 and is free for all attendees.
To qualify, presenters must be a founder or principal of a company; have already received federal R&D dollars or have a technology product (not services) that is either a prototype or ready-to-sell; the company must have a website; and active social media accounts. All submissions are due to TandemNSI by 5pm on November 24th, 2014. For submission details, visit TandemNSI’s event page or email pitch(at)tandemnsi(dot)com. A panel of TandemNSI Venture Advisors will review all submissions and notify pitch participants if they’ve been selected by 5pm on Wednesday, November 26th, 2014.
The companies chosen to participate will present to a panel of national security agency representatives including, Adam Tarsi, Chief of Staff of the Combating Terrorism Technical Support Office (CTTSO); Dr. Adam Cox, Acting Director of Homeland Security Advanced Research Projects Agency (HSARPA); Dr. Mark Micire, Program Manager in the Tactical Technology Office and Defense Science Offices; and Dan Doney, Chief Innovation Officer for the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA). TandemNSI will award the three top pitches a $ 5,000 first prize, $ 1,250 second prize, and $ 500 third prize to participating companies.
“This event is the culmination of a great first year of operation of TandemNSI,” noted Jonathan Aberman, Managing Director of TandemNSI. “We’ve already seen a good number of our community members foster new connections with the national security agencies through our events, so creating forum that provided a more focused opportunity made sense as a next step. An opportunity for an entrepreneur to pitch their product to these agencies in this type of venue is unique, and we are excited to be doing it.”
About TandemNSI
Tandem NSI brings together the resources of Amplifier Ventures and the infrastructure and support of Arlington Economic Development with funding from the Commonwealth of Virginia. Many of the industries that have driven growth in the US since 1945 — including GPS, the Internet, semiconductors, voice recognition, big data analysis and advanced biomechanics — were founded by commercializing technology from national security agencies based in Arlington. Amplifier Ventures has worked with DARPA, DOD Labs, Army, Air Force, DHS, DOE and many leading universities to create emerging technology companies and promote higher engagement between entrepreneurs and national security research and development.
