Perfect example of Scholarly concensus lag time:
H.P. Lovecraft was considered crazy and a maker of nonsense.
Now he is iconic and his creations like Cthulhu or the Necronomicon has
gotten lives of their own. To the point where people that don’t know
Lovecraft knows them.
I like this video a lot, actually. My own (admittedly amateur) idea of lit
vs genre was intent: literature was written in order to say something and
used conventions and tropes to address it and guide the readers along,
whilst genre was writing according to the conventions for their own sake.
Sort of like the difference between a guy going “I want to write a story
about a boy and his father in a harsh and unforgiving environment” (The
Road, Cormac McCarthy) “I want to create a badass postapocalyptic
universe!” (Mad Max)- both are very good works but set out to do different
things. But in retrospect this is sort of simplistic, since genre stuff can
really subtly have some great themes in it and Literature can be sort of
shit. Milton was using tropes for the sake of doing something new but he
was still very conciously writing in terms of genre.
Dat Pride theme
Noticed this too. I have a whole stack of “fantasy” that was written a long
time ago, which means by now it counts as literature. It’s just sad how
shit garbage fantasy completely ruins it for quality “fantasy”.
conan doesn’t have dragons etc. the supernatural elements in it are no more
than what you encounter on classics

Here’s an argument for Mass Effect as the Iliad of Gaming
I am very glad I discovered your videos. You give very interesting details
along with good facts. Keep up the fantastic work.
I get the impression that MrBTonuge spends a decent amount of time on
TVTropes. 😛 I’m serious, if you go in with the right mindset, it’s very
enlightening.
We miss you 🙁
He is back now! He has a return video!
“What is the point of literature, then?” Um… To read?
John Milton wasn’t Catholic, yo.
I know this isn’t the mass effect videos but I would just like to convey
tht everything you said about them Is exactly true and keep it up I enjoy
your videos
MOAAAR MOOARRRR mOoAaArRRrrr
And the video merely claims that he drew from Catholic lore and wrote in
Puritan England. 6:54

Device Heretic brought me here.
Come back…
I will tastefuly and understately nerdrage because I need MOAR episodes D:
“I hope to have it up by this monday (5/21) but it may not be until the
following wednesday.” Current date: Thursday 31st 🙁 I need my dose of
well-presented intelligent thought…
You didn’t like Oblivion because it was soulless. Easy. 🙂
No moar videos? Sad panda.
Hope MrBtongue is back soon. Video games and genre literature need a wise
defender. But he should take as much time as he needs.
Come back man!!! Your videos are 1/2 of the reason I come to youtube. The
other half is to entertain myself with useless garbage. DON’T LEAVE ME WITH
ALL THE GARBAGE!
