Toshiba India distributes LCDs to physically-challenged Children
Toshiba India has donated 15 LCDs to physically-challenged children at the Shakti Foundation. Speaking on the awe-inspiring occasion, Pranab Mohanty, Business Head, Consumer Products Division, Toshiba India Pvt. Ltd., said, “Toshiba’s philosophy is summed up in its corporate slogan: Committed to People, Committed to the Future. The Company emphasizes on management that is grounded in corporate social responsibility (CSR) and that promotes respect for people, innovate to create value, and contributes to the society.”
He further emphasized, “The integration of the physically-challenged into mainstream society is what we emphasize on and what we work for. An initiative like this will give children the opportunity to experience the visual medium and help increase their knowledge. I hope that through this medium they will be able to nurture their ambitions and dreams. The project is also inspiring for Toshiba and me personally, as I believe the future is in the hands of children and if we can in our own little way encourage them, we would have done our bit.”

The visibly ecstatic Chairperson of the Shakti Foundation was as enthusiastic as Toshiba about the initiative. When asked to comment, Rahguvir said, “This is possibly the first time a Consumer Durable brand is giving away LCDs to the physically-challenged kids. I feel elated to be a part of this initiative; I humbly express my gratitude that Toshiba India believes in the CSR activities so passionately.”
