Lightning Bolt Solutions, the leading provider of medical staff scheduling solutions, announces a new enterprise agreement with University of Kentucky HealthCare, the health care system offering Kentucky’s most advanced medical care.

Lightning Bolt implementation is set to occur across more than 50 services within the health network, optimizing complex scheduling needs for over 1,600 interns, residents, fellows, attending physicians, and advanced practice providers.

UK HealthCare is Kentucky’s largest multidisciplinary group practice, one of the fastest growing academic medical centers in the country, and one of only eight centers nationwide verified Level I for treatment of both pediatric and adult trauma.

Since the early 1990s, UK HealthCare has relied on a homegrown scheduling system, resulting in multiple scheduling processes across the enterprise with no integration points and, therefore, no enterprise-wide schedule serving as the health care system’s one source of truth. UK HealthCare evaluated the market to find an enterprise solution and ultimately selected Lightning Bolt.

Lightning Bolt’s web-based software scales in performance for the enterprise, centralizing department and specialty group schedules while allowing each to maintain autonomy in building and maintaining schedules based on individual needs and rules. A combination of patent-pending technology and artificial intelligence allows the system to optimally map resources across the enterprise. Other key features include cross-departmental scheduling and a role-based access control system that scales to thousands of end users.
